As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting diagnostic testing through accurate specimen processing and hands-on laboratory support. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to gain practical laboratory experience while contributing to patient care. Schedule & Compensation Part-time, evening shift with rotating weekends Compensation based on experience and qualifications Benefits Dental Basic Life/AD&D 401(K) with discretionary employer match Paid Time Off Free clinical diagnostic laboratory testing performed in house Qualifications Minimum age of 18 years High school diploma or equivalent Previous specimen processing or laboratory experience preferred, but not required Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment Strong team player who thrives in a collaborative setting Willingness to learn new technology and laboratory processes Familiarity with patient confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines Reliable attendance and punctuality Responsibilities Assist Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLSs) and Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) with laboratory activities, including specimen processing, sample plating, and other preparatory procedures Operate automated instruments, electronic systems, and precision tools, and perform basic troubleshooting as needed Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance activities Maintain accurate documentation, answer phones professionally, and protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements Follow established laboratory safety and infection control procedures Perform additional duties as operational needs evolve, with opportunities to gain laboratory experience and develop new skills Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination necessary to handle laboratory instruments, pipettes, small objects, and specimens with precision Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds Ability to read and interpret information, accurately identify specimens, and communicate clearly in person and by phone Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to access equipment and supplies
