Contract Temp-to-Permanent Position Summary and Special Duties:
As a Failure Analysis Technician, you will support the evaluation and investigation of returned medical devices used in life-changing healthcare technologies. This hands-on role combines troubleshooting, documentation, and technical analysis to determine product failures while ensuring compliance with FDA quality standards. Your day-to-day duties will include, but may not be limited to: Systematically receive, process, sort, and prioritize returned medical products for evaluation. Perform failure analysis on returned electromechanical medical devices and accurately document findings. Review and interpret product activity logs, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and software documentation. Complete detailed product investigations within an FDA-compliant Quality Management System (QMS) using Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Maintain accurate records of returned products and support continuous improvement of return material procedures. Ensure laboratory and test equipment remain calibrated, organized, and ready for use. Operate computer-based data acquisition and laboratory testing equipment. Work closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to support product reliability initiatives.
Job Specifications:
Minimum of 2 years of related technical work experience. Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on technical experience. Experience troubleshooting complex electromechanical equipment or medical devices. Hands-on experience using laboratory test and measurement equipment. Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed technical reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific examples of hands-on troubleshooting and technical experience during the interview process.
