Night Shift Accessioning Clerk

Accessioning Clerk/Lab Aide Looking to hire a highly motivated Lab Assistant/Accessioning Clerk who is adept at working in all environments. Must be efficient, accurate, and detail-oriented with an innate drive to provide exceptional service and have the ability to handle specimens in a clinical laboratory setting.

Job Summary:

Receive, sort and provide accurate data entry for all specimens entering the laboratory. The accession clerk will accurately transpose accession numbers generated for each specimen by scanning to a file for processing approval. The accession clerk will follow the direction of the supervisor while taking initiative in performing and promoting quality and efficiency within the department.

Job Requirements:

⦁ Handling and accessioning Covid-19 samples, Blood Samples and Urine samples for the lab tech ⦁ Preparing specimen at workstation for testing ⦁ Assist technologist and technicians with the operation of standard laboratory instruments as directed by management ⦁ Receive, transcribes and enter demographic and specimen data into the laboratory information system. Performs data entry and track specimens ⦁ Ensures correct entries of specimen data into computer system, prepares samples for further laboratory analysis and transports specimens to other labs and clinical departments ⦁ Maintains an active role in the laboratory quality improvement program including performance and evaluation of key laboratory outcome indicators. ⦁ Performs assigned pre-analytical activities related to the elements of laboratory testing for all age groups. ⦁ Secures information by completing database and back-ups ⦁ Assist other lab personnel with specimen

Skills/Qualifications:

Knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook and demonstrated experience in accurate data entry. Responsible for performing accessioning tasks on specimens received in the laboratory

Education:

High school Diploma- equivalent GED (minimum)
