In this vital role, you will conduct comprehensive sleep studies to diagnose and evaluate sleep disorders, helping patients achieve better rest and improved health. Your expertise in respiratory therapy, physiology, and medical procedures will be essential in capturing accurate data and ensuring patient comfort. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives through precise diagnostics and compassionate care. Duties Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort. Attach electrodes and sensors accurately to monitor brain activity, eye movements, muscle activity, heart rate, respiratory effort, airflow, oxygen levels, and limb movements. Monitor patients throughout the sleep study, adjusting equipment as needed to maintain optimal data collection. Record vital signs and observe physiological responses during sleep to identify abnormalities. Analyze collected data to assist physicians in diagnosing sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, or restless leg syndrome. Maintain detailed documentation of each study, including patient observations and technical notes. Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly, calibrated regularly, and properly sanitized after each use. Experience Prior experience working in a sleep center or conducting polysomnographic studies is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to sleep medicine. Experience with respiratory therapy techniques and performing physical examinations is advantageous. Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation processes for sleep disorders. Ability to interpret vital signs and physiological data accurately during studies. Knowledge of sleep center protocols, safety procedures, and patient care standards. Excellent communication skills to educate patients and collaborate with healthcare professionals effectively.
