Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Contract To Hire This Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) role presents an exceptional leadership opportunity within a rapidly growing specialty pharmacy focused on hormone replacement therapy (HRT). As the PIC, you will spearhead the licensure process and operational launch of a new mail-order pharmacy facility currently under build-out. This contract-to-hire position is based in Lancaster, PA, with a target start in mid-June.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the named PIC on the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy application; lead the licensure submission, inspection preparation, and approval process Collaborate with the build-out team to ensure the facility complies with all regulatory requirements, including HVAC and controlled storage standards Develop and author all pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and protocols from inception prior to launch Oversee post-launch pharmacy operations—dispensing, mail order fulfillment, quality assurance, and DEA compliance for controlled substances Hire, train, and manage pharmacy support staff as the pharmacy transitions to full operational capacity Maintain ongoing readiness for audits and serve as the primary contact during regulatory reviews Support multi-state licensing initiatives in alignment with organizational growth plans Qualifications /
Desired Experience:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing (strictly no disciplinary actions) Minimum of 3 years as a licensed pharmacist; prior PIC experience strongly preferred Proven track record leading pharmacy licensure applications and passing board inspections Experience in mail order, specialty pharmacy, or hormone replacement therapy sectors Strong knowledge of DEA compliance, controlled substance handling, and recordkeeping Demonstrated ability to author and implement pharmacy SOPs, particularly in startup or pre-operational settings Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable navigating regulatory startup environments Willingness to seek additional state licensure via reciprocity or endorsement as pharmacy expands nationally
