Laboratory Technician I — ICP-MS Sample Preparation Trichome Analytical Mount Laurel, NJ Job Details Full-time $22 an hour 7 days ago Qualifications Biology Computer operation Chemical handling safety procedures Laboratory safety Computer literacy Spreadsheets High school diploma or GED Attention to detail Chemistry Industrial chemical handling Chemical safety protocols Time management Full Job Description DETAILS Full-time Monday-Friday, 7am - 3pm shift $22.00 per hour SUMMARY This position is responsible for day-to-day sample preparation in the chemistry department, focusing on performing microwave-assisted acid digestion to prepare cannabis and cannabis products for elemental heavy metals analysis.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform representative subsampling of cannabis flower, concentrates, extracts, edibles, beverages, and other infused products to ensure homogeneity and compliance with SOPs.
  • Prepare samples for analysis through weighing, grinding, homogenization, labeling, and tracking.
  • Perform microwave-assisted acid digestion of cannabis and cannabis-derived products using closed-vessel digestion systems for elemental heavy metals analysis.
  • Prepare digestion vessels by accurately weighing samples, adding appropriate acids, operating digestion systems, and safely cooling, transferring, and diluting digestates.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of sample preparation, digestion batches, chain of custody, quality control samples, and laboratory records.
  • Clean, inspect, and maintain digestion vessels, balances, homogenizers, and other sample preparation equipment.
  • Prepare reagents, standards, and laboratory consumables as assigned.
  • Assist with sample receipt, storage, inventory management, sample archiving, and disposal.
  • Monitor laboratory supply inventory and notify supervisors when materials require replenishment.
  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures, PPE requirements, and hazardous chemical handling practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with routine laboratory housekeeping.
  • Support other laboratory sample preparation activities and assist additional departments as workload requires.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a regulated laboratory operating under FDA, GMP, GLP, or ISO quality systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures precisely.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable handling concentrated acids and hazardous laboratory chemicals.
  • Ability to perform repetitive laboratory tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or another natural science.
  • Experience with microwave digestion systems and heavy metals sample preparation.
  • Experience with analytical balances, homogenization equipment, and gravimetric sample preparation.
  • Experience working in an
ISO/IEC 17025
accredited laboratory.
  • Experience with cannabis, food, pharmaceutical, or environmental testing laboratories.
