! The Lab Technician performs sample preparation and analytical testing on materials and wastewater, ensuring accurate, timely reporting of results. This role operates, troubleshoots, and maintains laboratory equipment, oversees daily wastewater treatment quality management, and supports production and battery process optimization within a regulated laboratory environment.Shifts:
6am-2:30pm or 2-10pm Responsibilities + Prepare samples for analytical testing on materials and wastewater using appropriate preparation and digestion techniques. + Perform analytical testing on material and wastewater, following established standard operating procedures and testing methods. + Complete test reports and document results accurately, and submit them in a timely manner to the appropriate personnel. + Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation. + Oversee daily wastewater treatment quality management to ensure discharge meets required limits. + Provide technical guidance on wastewater treatment quality management when necessary. + Investigate and resolve issues that may appear in wastewater and related analytical testing. + Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure reliable and consistent operation. + Arrange equipment service and repairs when maintenance needs exceed in-house capabilities. + Conduct research in a limited capacity to help optimize battery-related processes and support improvements in battery chemistry applications. + Prepare chemical solutions and dilutions according to specified concentrations and quality standards. + Perform validation and calibration of laboratory instruments in accordance with calibration, standards, and quality control practices. Essential Skills + Hands-on experience with ICP (ideally ICP-OES) instrumentation and associated analytical techniques. + Experience performing wastewater and environmental analytical testing. + Proficiency in sample preparation and digestion techniques for a variety of materials and matrices. + Practical wet chemistry experience in a laboratory setting. + Familiarity with EPA methods and NPDES-related testing requirements is a plus. + Strong understanding of calibration procedures, standards preparation, and quality control practices. + Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on analytical instrumentation. + Experience working in an ISO-compliant or otherwise regulated laboratory environment. + Ability to independently perform routine analytical testing while following established methods and SOPs. Work Environment The role is based in a regulated laboratory environment that may operate under ISO-compliant standards. The Lab Technician works with analytical instruments such as ICP-OES and other wet chemistry equipment, following EPA methods, NPDES requirements, and strict calibration and quality control practices. The work involves handling chemicals, preparing solutions and dilutions, managing waste streams, and maintaining SDSs and SOPs for safe operation. The environment emphasizes Good Laboratory Practices, high standards of personal and industrial hygiene, and consistent equipment maintenance and calibration to support accurate and reliable testing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
