A Sleep Laboratory Technician, also known as a polysomnographic technician, performs tests and collects data on patients with sleep disorders. Responsible for giving patients explanations of the impending sleep tests and procedures, preparing equipment for the procedures, recording activities and analyzing results - all while working under the advisement of a clinical director and/or sleep technologist.

Job Description

VisionGift (VG) is a nonprofit eye bank that obtains, evaluates and distributes eye tissue donated by caring individuals for use in cornea transplantation, research, and education. VG is currently offering a challenging and rewarding Per-Diem Recovery Technician position to provide on-call coverage for Medford and the surrounding areas.
Examples of responsibilities include:
Aseptic removal of human donor eye tissue (post-mortem) for transplant and research/medical education Detailed physical inspection of donor for evidence of donation contraindications Obtain post-mortem blood samples Complete documentation of recovery procedure Packaging tissue for shipment to main office Travel from home to hospitals, funeral homes, and medical examiner offices with in recovery region On call schedule requires technician to be available for dispatch during their scheduled on call hours Managing personal recovery supplies, completing inventories and orders as needed to maintain par levels for location In-house training is provided. Preference will be given to applicants with experience or course work in biological sciences, allied health, medical technology and/or funeral industry experience. A flexible schedule is preferred as well. This is a Per Diem on call position with 24hr call cycles. Recoveries are paid on a per-case basis between approximately $110 - $155. Standby ("On-Call") rate is $3.00/hr for day hours and $4.00/hr for night hours. Hourly rate is $20/hr for training and/or meetings. Mileage reimbursement paid at the federal reimbursement rate for miles driven on recoveries outside of "home" hospital in recovery region. Phone stipend for use of phone for work communication.
Requirements:
Must be detail-oriented and able to follow directives and work independently Have a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record and reliable, insured vehicle Must have a cell phone and reliable access to e-mail and home internet Must have ability to store small amount of supplies at home Physical ability to move 50 pounds Strong communication skills
