Job Description
The Part Time Laboratory Assistant position duties include assisting technicians who are performing microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental samples. Responsibilities of the Part Time Laboratory Assistant position includes but are not limited to: Assisting in some laboratory related tasks under the supervision of lab supervisor or dept. lead, including sample processing and plating Prepare microbiological media (pouring, dispensing, and labeling) Operate autoclaves for sterilization of media, supplies, and equipment Measure and adjust pH of laboratory media Fill and cap tubes, bottles, and vials for test kits and media products Weigh and package dehydrated media powders Assist in assembly of diagnostic test kits Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of production and laboratory areas Maintain and clean equipment used in media production Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control requirements Accurately document production activities and batch records Assist with equipment checks Drive to a customer to pick up samples when needed
