Lab Assembly Technician Job Description The Lab Assembly Technician supports the manufacturing and assembly of solid oxide fuel cell components and systems within an advanced production facility. This role focuses on small-part mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly, ensuring high-quality, reliable products that contribute to next-generation clean energy solutions. The technician applies strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and precision assembly skills to meet strict quality and performance standards. Responsibilities Assemble small mechanical and electro-mechanical components by following detailed work instructions, drawings, and standard operating procedures. Perform intricate hand assembly of fuel cell subassemblies and finished products with a high degree of accuracy and care. Utilize hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and measurement equipment to complete assembly tasks safely and efficiently. Conduct visual inspections and quality checks to verify proper fit, function, and workmanship of components and assemblies. Follow manufacturing and quality procedures to ensure all products meet defined specifications and standards. Document production activities, inspections, and process data accurately using established documentation systems. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety standards and best practices. Assist with packaging, material handling, inventory transactions, and other production support activities as needed. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to identify, communicate, and help resolve assembly issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, assembly, production, or technician roles. Experience working with small parts and detailed assembly processes in a production environment. Ability to read and follow assembly instructions, work orders, and basic mechanical drawings. Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise, intricate assembly work. Proficiency in using basic hand tools and measuring devices for assembly and inspection tasks. Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to producing high-quality work. Basic computer skills for data entry, production documentation, and recording process data. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in electronics, medical device, aerospace, fuel cell, battery, or precision manufacturing environments. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices. Experience working in a regulated or highly quality-focused production environment. Work Environment This role is based in an advanced manufacturing facility focused on innovative fuel cell technology and scaled production. The work involves hands-on assembly using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and measurement equipment in a production setting. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with strong collaboration among Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams. Shift options include first and second shift openings, with schedules such as Monday to Friday from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Thursday to Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., supporting continuous operations and production flexibility. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Mount Pleasant, PA.
