Job Description
Laboratory Technician I If you're an individual with a Science degree, who is graduating this year or who has graduated within the last year or two and is attracted to a career opportunity with a growing chemical manufacturer and a major supplier of chemical ingredients to the bio-pharmaceutical industry, this may be the job for you! This position is responsible for solution preparation, product testing, and instrument calibration/ maintenance. This position is also responsible for compositing raw materials, finished goods, and additional samples, as assigned. This is an entry level position within our laboratory testing department that may open up for future opportunities for the right individual!
Major Roles & Responsibilities:
Lab Testing:
Responsible for solution preparation required for analysis. Performs analytical testing on samples, including but not limited to, raw material, finished goods, impurity, and product stability samples. Responsible for compositing raw materials, finished goods, stability, and additional samples, as assigned.Lab Equipment Calibration:
Responsible for instrument calibrations and maintenance, and routine laboratory preventative maintenance.Documentation:
Documents all data in corresponding laboratory notebook or other appropriate laboratory documentation in accordance with GMP and documentation entry and error requirements. Lab Analysis Responsible for analysis pertaining to customer complaints, discrepancies, & laboratory investigations and OOS checklists. Environmental, Health & Safety Responsible for analysis of waste disposal and standard/reagent disposal in accordance with the appropriate standard operating procedure and SOS information. Ensure that all waste generated in the course of assigned job tasks are handled in compliance with Company policy and procedures and federal, state, and local regulations. Work Performance Standards Reports necessary results to manufacturing and laboratory management, in a timely manner. Maintains a basic understanding of laboratory workflow, paperwork, and sample management. Strives to complete daily assigned work with a high degree of accuracy and precision. Other Performance Duties Participates in department projects, as prescribed. Has the ability to package materials for outside testing, as required. Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Education:
The ideal candidate will be an individual who is graduating this year or has graduated recently in the prior year or two with the following education, background. A minimum of a two-year degree in science, sufficient exposure to chemistry, biochemistry and lab testing with applicable knowledge is required. The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or another related field.Skills & Abilities:

Must have a solid understanding of chemistry and lab testing procedures and practices.Detail Orientation:
Demonstrated ability to follow detailed procedural instructions accurately and thoroughly as they relate to lab testing procedures, methods, and practices.Effective Communication:
Demonstrated ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English at a highly proficient level and be able to communicate moderately complex information in a concise and understandable way.Color and Color Change Assessment:
Ability to distinguish color and color change.Learning:
Demonstrated ability to learn BioSpectra's lab testing procedures, lab safety practices and GLP testing requirements. Software Technology - Must possess skills in the use of Microsoft Office software and Outlook, as well as be able to learn how to use other lab related software and statistical software at a proficient level.
