Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in Andrology Laboratory Who are we? Position Overview:
The Clinical Laboratory Technician is responsible for andrology procedures, maintenance of lab records, quality assurance and improvement activities on an ongoing basis, and other lab related duties. The clinical laboratory technician must adhere to laboratory policies and protocols and ensure the safe and satisfied performance of the Andrology laboratory. Perform all andrology procedures including but not limited to semen analysis, semen preparation for IVF and IUI, sperm isolation from MESA & TESA
specimen, and semen cryopreservation and thawing. Coordinate with patients, outside clinics and sperm banks, transfer-in/receive donor/autologous frozen sperm from outside facilities, or transfer-out/send autologous/donor frozen sperm to outside facilities. Performs quality controls, calibration and instrument preventive maintenance checks at the required frequency and documents such actions. Perform all proficiency testing required by CAP including but not limited to sperm motility analysis or mouse embryo assay. Monitor supply of reagents, document and manage consumable inventory to always ensure adequate supply and orders supplies when necessary. Assist laboratory to create SOPs, protocols that are compliant with CLIA / Tissue Bank / FDA / OSHA /CAP requirement and inspection. Assist laboratory personnel in performing lab services in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws and guidelines to ensure laboratory maintains accreditation. Assist Embryology laboratory in performing embryology lab services when it is needed, including quality control, chart review and documentation. All clerk tasks include generating billing, charges, and payment information for laboratory services, as required. Maintain clean/sanitary work environment and follow bloodborne pathogen handling/disposal procedures per OSHA regulations. Maintain HIPAA and Confidentiality for all patient and clinical information, and ensure to protect computer access. Participate in daily clinical huddles, weekly meetings and educational sessions. Communicate with patients, lab and clinical staffs and provide excellent customer service. Abilities and Knowledge Medical Lab Technician Certificate/licensure preferred (MLT, MT, MLS, ASCP, etc). Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Sciences, biology, chemistry or related major. 1+ years' experience in specimen processing, Lab administration, and Patient Care required. Andrology (sperm count, motility, and morphology) experience preferred. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, promote teamwork, promote positive human relations, and organize with strong management and leadership skills. Employment Type This is a full-time onsite position that requires early hours, rotational weekends and holidays. Compensation The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000/annually. Salary is based on several factors including job related knowledge and skill set, depth of experience, certifications and/or degrees. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
