POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Testing Personnel will be responsible for performing routine, special and automated tests in clinical chemistry, special chemistry, hematology, serology, coagulation and urinalysis to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and records laboratory test results. Communications, logging, workload, and clerical functions are also assigned to the laboratory technicians.PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provide support for physicians and other nursing cares maintaining an acceptable level of productivity and consistency with all tasks as assigned. Operational Excellence 5. Ensure and uphold the confidentially requirements of all patient records and manage all daily task and activities consistent with HIPAA, state and federal laws and regulations, as well as the clinic's policies and regulations regarding confidentiality and security. Relationships 6. Develop and ensure effective, positive relationships within and among the clinic staff, as well as with patients, vendors, contractors, and related resources. Professionalism 7. Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times. 8. Uphold and ensure compliance with and attention to all corporate policies and procedures, as well as the mission and values of the organization.PRIMARY TASKS & DUTIES
: 1. Perform standardized chemical procedures on body fluids or tissues 2. Perform hematological procedures including manual differentials and sedimentation rates. 3. Perform urinalysis including chemical and physical characteristics 4. Perform immunologic test for diseases such as Mono, Strep A, Flu test, H.pylori,etc 5. Perform venipuncture and or finger sticks to obtain blood for test purposes 6. Operate and maintain all laboratory equipment which includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration. 7. Monitor quality control procedures 8. Follow the laboratory's procedure for specimen handling and processing. 9. Maintain record that demonstrates that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. 10. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies. This includes validating patient test results with QC before reporting. 11. Capable of identifying any problems that may adversely affect test problem or notify the appropriate supervisor 12. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. 13. Participate in teaching students through informal and formal programs. 14. Review and communicate any lab results including any stat or abnormal results to nurse or doctor 15. Perform and validate new QC controls. Verify results with lab manager. 16. Perform under little or no supervision 17. Keep work counters clean, disinfected and stocked. 18. Call, fax or mail laboratory documents to other facilities. 19. Chart patient results 20. Able to fill out requisitions for lab work sent to professional diagnostic laboratories, log in and file test results when they come back 21. Perform Shut-down procedures. 22. Collect, package and box all infectious waste for incinerator.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES 1.
Function in a multi-tasking, multiple priorities environment, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. 2. Communicate with a diverse employee population. 3. Utilize a wide variety of office technology and tools to collect, enter, process, file records and documentation. 4. Ability to function in a fast paced, sometimes stressful work environment Education Associate Degree in applied science, Medical Laboratory Technology Certified MLT from the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), preferred Previous lab experience preferred Professional Experience working in a nonprofit organization preferred but not required. Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner. Communication, customer service or working with the general public, preferably in a medical care facility. General computer competence including basic Word, Excel, and potential to be trained on specific software for patient information, billing and communication. Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred. Physical/Environmental Ability to interact with computer screen for up to eight hours at a time (visual acuity required). Must have manual dexterity for use of keyboard. Able to lift items up to 25 lbs. Ability to stand on feet for approximately up to 8 hours a day. Ability to communicate via phone, mail and in person to resolve disputes, solve problems, etc. Capacity to function in a sometimes stressful, multi-tasking environment Job Knowledge Must be able to perform complex analyses which require a complex network of steps and variables. Must have in depth knowledge of techniques, principles, knowledge of physiological conditions affecting test results. He/she must be able to recognize problems, identify the cause, synthesize Alternatives, and determining solutions.
