Job Description

The Lab Technician supports Current Technology s product development efforts as a member of the laboratory team. The laboratory team is involved in performing safety testing of finished lighting products. The Lab Technician is responsible for the set-up of test samples and test stations, logging and monitoring test data, troubleshooting, and reporting completed test results. All tests are performed to UL and CSA requirements. This position also interacts with our Engineering teams as our customers.
Essential Functions:
Setup test samples and test stations according to UL 1598 and 924 standards Conduct UL and CSA safety tests according to UL 1598 and 924 standards Compile test results into test reports Enter/upload data electronically and manage electronic test results/record storage Follow prescribed certification and Laboratory Quality Management System processes Comply with all lab rules and regulations, and certification requirements for assigned projects Investigate, and aid in troubleshooting of suspicious test result data Assist in external and internal audits, Ensure that equipment is properly handled, stored, and maintained to protect the integrity of calibration or service
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects Support the upgrade of testing equipment Follow all area safety rules Maintain good housekeeping practices in all laboratory areas Maintain instrumentation as needed
Competencies:
Strong problem-solving skills Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings is a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to follow verbal and written work instructions Customer service interaction skills General knowledge and experience using hand tools and power tools Well-organized and excellent with details Able to work well independently and as part of a team
Qualifications:
Required Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or in an Applied Science program (preferred with 2 years experience in a lab testing environment) Knowledge of fundamental electrical and electronic concepts, practices and procedures applied to testing and measurement equipment, operation, and troubleshooting Competency in MS Word and Excel Customer service interaction skills Lifting up to 50 lb. for installation of test sample on test equipment Preferred Knowledge and experience using Lighting Standards (UL 1598, UL 924, etc.) Prefer 2+ years in Certification environment working with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory Compensation The position has a compensation package inclusive of hourly rate, benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more. This hourly rate is $25.00-$28.00.
