$18.00 - $18.00 / Hour Apply For This Job Join a Leading Clinical Setting as a Specimen Processing Technician - Night Shift Opportunities Available Are you detail-oriented, organized, and eager to contribute to vital healthcare operations? We are seeking a dedicated Specimen Processing Technician to support the seamless processing of laboratory specimens in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to be a critical part of patient care through accurate and efficient specimen management, ensuring high-quality results and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do:
Support the specimen processing department by accurately performing tasks such as specimen presorting, imaging, microfilming, centrifugation, aliquoting, and pickup/delivery of specimens to the laboratory. Enter data with precision at a rate of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour, ensuring all specimen information is correctly logged. Handle specimens within a biohazard environment following strict safety protocols. Communicate effectively with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth operations. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety, compliance, and departmental policies. Adapt to daily changes in testing procedures and regulations, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude. Support a fast-paced production environment with productivity and quality emphasis, meeting departmental turnaround times. Participate in or be available for night shift work, including weekends, holidays, and on-call duties, based on staffing needs.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic computer skills; familiarity with laboratory testing and specimen processing is a plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to perform repetitive data entry accurately and quickly. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Previous experience in a laboratory, hospital, or clinical setting. Familiarity with medical terminology related to laboratory testing. Previous experience in a production environment emphasizing quality and productivity. Knowledge of compliance regulations affecting laboratory testing and specimen handling.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Previous laboratory or medical background preferred. Experience working in a clinical laboratory or hospital environment is advantageous but not mandatory. Experience with specimen processing equipment or microfilming is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Candidates should be flexible to work the majority of shifts during the night, with availability for weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Ability to maintain safety and compliance standards in a biohazard environment. Willingness to work in a high-volume, production-driven environment focused on efficiency and accuracy.
