Laboratory Technician I Location:
Deer Park, TX Position Summary:
A leading laboratory services organization is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to perform routine laboratory testing and support chemical and physical analysis procedures under supervision. This entry-level laboratory role focuses on operating lab equipment, preparing samples and chemical solutions, assisting with instrument calibration, maintaining laboratory cleanliness, and following strict safety and analytical standards.
Essential Functions:
Conduct and assist with basic analytical testing using ASTM, UOP, IP, and other industry standards Operate and maintain laboratory equipment after training certification Prepare chemical solutions and complete laboratory data documentation Clean and sterilize laboratory instruments and work areas Support calibration activities and quality assurance procedures Follow all laboratory safety, environmental, and compliance policies Participate in petroleum, chemical, and gas analysis training programs
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field preferred Laboratory experience will be considered in lieu of education Strong understanding of analytical laboratory practices and safety procedures Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment Strong communication and organizational skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time Frequent use of hands for handling laboratory tools and equipment Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally Ability to work in laboratory environments with petroleum or chemical odors within OSHA permissible exposure limits Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required Laboratory setting with potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals Moderate noise environment Compliance with all laboratory safety and environmental policies is required
