Lab Technician IL Staffing Fort Worth, TX Job Details Full-time From $20 an hour 14 hours ago Qualifications Sawing High school diploma or GED Machining Laboratory techniques Manufacturing Full Job Description Summary The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing material testing and quality verification on steel specimens to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. This role supports the integrity of our steel fabrication and distribution operations by maintaining precise laboratory procedures, accurate data recording, and safe handling of all specimens and materials. Specimen Preparation Lift and push coupons up to 20 lbs to prepare samples for cutting and testing. Operate band saw equipment to cut down specimens from coupons to required dimensions. Use magnetic grinder to machine specimens to specific size tolerances. Use stencil to clearly mark and identify each specimen prior to testing. Pair all specimens with their corresponding coil to ensure traceability. Testing andQuality Control Understand and apply all requirements for steel grades A36, SA36, A572-50, A572-65, and A871-65. Submerge Charpy specimens in methanol bath for a minimum of 20 minutes prior to the start of impact testing. Understand and adhere to all temperature requirements for laboratory testing procedures. Ensure all laboratory test results and data are recorded correctly and completely. Perform quality checks to verify specimens meet dimensional and material specifications before and after testing. Lab Safety & Housekeeping Dispose of all tested specimens in accordance with company procedures upon completionof testing. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work environment at all times. Follow all OSHA and company safety guidelines when handling equipment, specimens, and chemicals. Immediately report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or non-conforming material to supervisor. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in materials science, metallurgy, or a related field preferred. Prior experience in a manufacturing, metals, or laboratory environment preferred. Familiarity with steel grades and ASTM material standards is a plus. Skills & Abilities Ability to operate band saw, magnetic grinder, and other laboratory equipment safely. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and record integrity. Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and work instructions. Physical ability to lift and move coupons weighing up to 20 lbs. Basic math and measurement skills; ability to work with precise tolerances. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Pay & Schedule Pay:
$20/hr
Training Schedule:
1st Shift (5:00 AM•5:00 PM)
Regular Schedule:
2nd Shift (5:00 PM•5:00 AM) Monday•Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed
Pay:
