Job Description
Chemist / Laboratory Technician Crest Industrial Chemicals is seeking a Chemist / Laboratory Technician to join our team. Crest Industrial Chemicals is an independent manufacturer of high-quality specialty industrial chemicals. Our product lines include cleaners, conversion coatings, corrosion inhibitors, surface preparations, and paint removers . The Chemist / Laboratory Technician will support quality control, regulatory compliance, customer technical support, research and development, and overall laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities Quality Control
- Perform quality control testing on products manufactured by the plant.
- Document and maintain accurate records of all testing and analytical results.
- Enter test results into the company's computer system.
- Review Certificates of Conformance (COCs) and other documentation for incoming raw materials.
- Collect and submit raw material samples to independent laboratories for testing when required.
- Identify and communicate quality issues or results that fall outside established specifications. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals and products used or manufactured at the facility.
- Review and update product SDSs as needed to maintain compliance with applicable federal regulations and standards, including OSHA and GHS requirements.
- Ensure chemical information, labeling, and documentation remain accurate and up to date.
- Monitor regulatory changes that may affect company products or laboratory operations. Sales & Customer Technical Support
- Work with the sales team to identify Crest products that are comparable to customer products or applications.
- Perform test-kit evaluations and Q-panel testing on products provided by customers or sales representatives.
- Evaluate customer products and processes to identify potential issues and determine appropriate solutions.
- Test customer parts, components, and samples to determine the most appropriate Crest product and recommended application process.
- Document and maintain Customer Surveys/Evaluations and related testing records.
- Prepare laboratory samples and products for customer evaluation and testing.
- Communicate test results and technical recommendations to sales personnel and management. Research & Development
- Stay current on developments in the chemical industry, emerging technologies, and new materials.
- Research and identify opportunities to improve existing products and develop new products.
- Explore formulations and processes that promote environmental responsibility and personnel safety.
- Support the development and testing of new products and processes.
- Maintain compliance of all
MIL-SPEC
products with current military specifications.- Monitor revisions to
MIL-SPEC
requirements and ensure applicable raw materials, formulations, testing procedures, and documentation remain current.- Maintain accurate records related to research, development, testing, and product specifications. Laboratory Organization & Housekeeping
- Maintain an accurate inventory of laboratory chemicals, supplies, and materials.
- Monitor laboratory chemical levels and communicate replenishment needs.
- Keep laboratory work areas clean, organized, and free of unnecessary or excess materials.
- Ensure all chemicals and laboratory materials are properly labeled.
- Properly store chemicals in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
- Dispose of chemical waste and laboratory materials according to company procedures and applicable regulations.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces in a safe and orderly condition. General Expectations The Chemist / Laboratory Technician is expected to:

- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Laboratory experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety and chemical handling procedures.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with computers and laboratory documentation systems.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical personnel.
