Job Title:
Laboratory Technician Job Description The Laboratory Technician processes and tracks specimens through established laboratory workflows, ensuring accurate documentation and timely completion of diagnostic testing activities. This role prepares, organizes, and manages samples for analysis while maintaining proper handling procedures and workflow efficiency. The Laboratory Technician also supports operational processes during system maintenance or workflow changes by coordinating specimen movement to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations. Responsibilities + Process and track specimens through the laboratory workflow from receipt to completion, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures. + Prepare, organize, and manage samples for analysis, including blood and other diagnostic specimens + Handle specimens in accordance with standard laboratory practices to preserve sample integrity and prevent contamination. + Collaborate with other laboratory staff and communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow and timely resolution of issues. + Participate in training activities and quickly apply new knowledge to perform laboratory tasks with confidence. + Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance standards within a sterile and clean laboratory environment. Essential Skills + Recent Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry (required). + At least 1 year of recent work experience in a laboratory or closely related setting; this experience may be from undergraduate or postgraduate work. + Familiarity with basic laboratory practices, including sample handling, labeling, and processing. + Experience or exposure to laboratory environments such as lab assistant, medical technologist, or related roles in Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology. Work Environment The role is based in a Laboratory that provides biological testing services, screening a high volume of samples for biotechnology-focused work. The environment is a medical laboratory setting . This is a contract position with the possibility of extension or conversion to a direct role, depending on business needs and performance. Available schedules include Wednesday through Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and Sunday through Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., requiring comfort with late-shift work. The laboratory uses standard diagnostic testing technologies and workflows, including handling blood and other specimens within controlled conditions. The dress code requires solid-colored scrubs and closed-toed shoes to maintain safety and hygiene standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
