A Laboratory Technician performs routine tests on samples of body fluids, tissues, and other substances for diagnostic and research purposes. Works under the supervision of a medical laboratory technologist in a laboratory or healthcare facility.
Day Shift Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support research and development activities by delivering accurate, safe, and reliable laboratory data. The technician will perform routine and non-routine laboratory testing, maintain laboratory equipment, prepare chemical samples, and provide technical support for drilling fluid and cement testing. This role requires experience working with HTHP (High Temperature High Pressure) cementing laboratory equipment and maintaining laboratory quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and non-routine laboratory testing on drilling fluids and cement systems. Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate HTHP laboratory equipment according to manufacturer specifications. Conduct quality assurance testing on products and accurately record test results. Prepare laboratory reports and maintain detailed test documentation. Support researchers, Design Engineers, and Product Champions with laboratory testing and technical assistance. Prepare chemical samples and maintain laboratory databases. Perform routine equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and calibration. Ensure laboratory equipment and work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. Dispose of laboratory waste according to company and regulatory guidelines. Conduct laboratory audits to ensure compliance with quality and operational standards. Perform risk assessments before laboratory activities to identify and mitigate safety or quality concerns. Participate in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and Quality initiatives. Follow all PPE requirements, laboratory safety procedures, and company policies. Complete all required safety training and maintain compliance with laboratory protocols. Required Qualifications Associate's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Laboratory Science, or a related technical field. Minimum 3 years of experience in an HTHP Cementing Laboratory. Hands-on experience operating, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment. Experience with drilling fluids and cement testing is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel , for data entry, report generation, and record tracking. Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills. Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative research team. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in the oil & gas, drilling fluids, or cementing industry. Knowledge of laboratory quality systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Familiarity with laboratory safety regulations and HSE practices.
