Job Description

In this role, you will ensure both academic and open labs are consistently maintained in optimal working condition, with systems kept up to date through the latest security patches to protect against vulnerabilities and data risks. Each semester begins with your leadership in preparing organized, fully functional lab environments that enable a smooth start for instruction and learning. Beyond daily operations, this position invites you to make a meaningful impact by continuously evaluating emerging technologies and software to enhance the user experience. You will also help shape clear and effective support frameworks by maintaining and updating Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring expectations are transparent and well-understood. By building strong, collaborative relationships with faculty and staff, you will gain insight into evolving academic needs and help tailor lab resources to support innovation and success across the university community.
Lab Preparation:
Prepare labs at the beginning of each semester to ensure they are fully functional, well-organized, and ready for faculty and students to use.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on computers and printers in both Academic and Open Labs to ensure they are in optimal working condition. Keep all systems in the labs updated with the latest security patches to safeguard against vulnerabilities and data breaches.
Problem Resolution:
Address any issues or problems that arise due to EUTS (End-User Technology Services) implementations and errors promptly and effectively to minimize disruptions. Service Level Agreement (SLA)
Management:
Maintain and update SLAs for faculty and staff to clearly define the scope of support provided for each lab, ensuring that expectations are well-documented and understood.
Technology Evaluation:
Continuously assess new technologies and software solutions to improve the user experience for both faculty and staff, making recommendations for implementation. Other job-related duties as assigned. Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associates degree in a related field and 2+ years' experience related to the Summary of Duties or a combination of education and/or experience totaling 4+ years. Knowledge Knowledge of computer hardware and printer components, including CPUs, RAM, hard drives, and maintenance procedures. Familiarity with security patching processes and the importance of keeping software and operating systems up to date. Knowledge of lab configurations, including hardware and software setups specific to academic and open labs. Awareness of emerging technologies, software, and tools relevant to educational and administrative needs. Knowledge of SLA concepts, IT service management, and the specific needs of faculty and staff. Knowledge of common IT issues, troubleshooting techniques, and EUTS processes. Skills Skills in troubleshooting and repairing hardware and software issues in computers and printers. Skill in applying security patches, ensuring system stability, and protecting against vulnerabilities. Organizational skills to prepare labs, ensuring that all necessary resources are available for faculty and students. Skills in evaluation to assess the suitability and potential benefits of new technologies. Documenting and updating SLAs, ensuring clarity and alignment with the support provided. Strong communication, active listening, and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships. Skill in effective interpersonal and communication skills. Skill in analytical and troubleshooting. Abilities Ability to perform routine maintenance, diagnose problems, and restore devices to optimal working condition. Ability to regularly update systems with the latest security patches and maintain a secure computing environment. Ability to create functional, organized, and user-ready lab environments at the beginning of each academic semester. Ability to recommend and implement technology solutions that enhance the user experience for faculty and staff. Ability to maintain and communicate SLAs effectively to manage expectations and provide consistent support. Ability to respond promptly and efficiently to issues, minimizing disruptions and maintaining a smooth user experience.
