at University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont, United States Job Description Laboratory Technician Senior Posting Summary The Laboratory Technician Senior will provide oversight and management of scientific research projects designed to develop novel cancer therapies. Perform a variety of technical functions in a fast-paced immunotherapy cancer research lab, in a basic and clinically oriented lab. Perform experiments involving in vivo mouse models, in vitro mechanisms and binding analyses of immunotherapy treatments. Prioritize work to meet the objectives and deadlines associated with generating data for grant/contract renewals, grant/contract proposals, and submission or revision of manuscripts. Provide high level technical expertise in the design, performance, and troubleshooting of complex laboratory experiments. Analyze, interpret and manage experimental data. Exercise judgment in prioritizing work to meet the objectives and deadlines provided by the PI. Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies for the laboratory, including but not limited to personnel lab safety, chemical safety, biosafety, IACUC, IRB, and IBC. Serve as a resource and support person for other researchers/faculty for experimental preparation, design, evaluating methodologies, and interpreting data. Work independently with minimal supervision in a collaborative and flexible manner is essential. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor's degree in related field and four to five years' related laboratory research experience required. Demonstrate experience and proficiency with molecular biology, cell culture techniques, cell purification, fluorescent microscopy, ELISAs, flow cytometry, PCR, cloning, DNA and protein purification, and other cell and molecular analytical techniques beyond educational training required. Demonstrate and proficient experience working with mice required. Knowledge of immunology and cancer biology. Effective organizational, communication and data presentation skills required. Desirable Qualifications Experience working in a team-oriented environment with people of diverse backgrounds; comfortable summarizing and reporting results to researchers; self-motivation; excellent time-management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and awareness of basic safety issues and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Graph pad Prism and Image J programs and other related computer skills is desirable.
