Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Support Technician II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have lab experience or familiarity with lab environments, and a strong understanding of lab equipment. While proficiency in the operation of equipment is not a requirement, the ability to identify and understand the basic uses of lab equipment is essential. The Lab Support Technician II will support daily laboratory operations, manage inventory and procurement, assist with lab maintenance, and provide exceptional service to research staff. Strong communication skills, the ability to multitask, and proficiency in Microsoft applications are crucial to success in this role. Experience in coordinating and collaborating with multiple parties will be essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure labware, consumables, supplies, and work areas are properly stocked, cleaned, sterilized, and maintained using appropriate equipment and processes. Perform hazardous waste consolidation routines following specified processes. Support lab equipment maintenance routines as directed. Assist with corrective and preventative maintenance work orders as required. Manage lab supplies inventory, including ordering, procurement, and receiving processes. Provide support to research staff and assist with service requests as directed. Understand and balance operational laboratory workflows, including routine tasks and ad-hoc work. Document work processes, track metrics, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Perform additional support-level tasks as necessary. Remain flexible in response to schedule changes with reasonable notice. Provide backup support for multiple client sites as needed. Assist in training new staff and implementing procedures for new client sites. Conduct safety checks, including inspecting safety showers, eye wash stations, and fire extinguishers. Monitor and manage alarms, responding as required. Escort vendors and contractors on-site as necessary. Maintain and clean decontamination equipment.
Qualifications:
Lab experience or familiarity with lab environments (e.g., pharmaceutical, veterinary, medical, educational). Basic knowledge of lab equipment, with the ability to identify key pieces and understand their basic uses. Experience with inventory control and procurement (science-related experience not required). Strong communication and triaging skills; ability to coordinate, collaborate, and inform multiple parties. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). Experience in customer service, multi-tasking, administrative support, stocking, and replenishment. Attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications (Not Required): Background in chemistry or biology particularly with experience in ordering, cataloging, and reconciling chemicals, reagents, and solvents.

$22.00 per hour
