What they do
A Laboratory Specimen Processor catalogs specimens in a medical laboratory for use by other health care workers, including laboratory technicians, nurses, and physicians. Specimens can include blood samples, bacteria cultures, and even organs. Receives specimens, enters specimen data into a computer system, prepares samples for further laboratory analysis, and transports specimens to other labs and clinical departments.

Position Responsibilities:
Operation of scales to ensure accurate material weights Assists with sample processing, including storage, archiving, disposal, shipping, testing of samples, and pulling samples from the furnace Conducts melt sample preparation, including button melting, punch press, and lathe operation Assists with testing on various samples in the laboratory using various laboratory equipment and using the LabTrack computer system to enter data collected Maintains daily check sheets and log books in the laboratory Conduct PM maintenance: daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually Laboratory cleaning duties as assigned including sweeping, organizing, cleaning surfaces, etc. Safety observations and various safety trainings; daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually Must be able to operate forklifts Other training and duties as assignedBasic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Ability to follow work, process, quality, and safety procedures Strict attention to detail Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to interact well with employees, customers, and management. Proficient in computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, using word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Desirable to have experience with statistical software packages. Basic math skills Basic computer skillsPreferred Experience:
