Lab Aide Digital Biotechnologies, Inc Seattle, WA Job Details Part-time $22.50 - $26.00 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Teamwork Windows Microsoft Office High school diploma or GED macOS Associate's degree Full Job Description Digital Biotechnologies is seeking a dynamic, bright, highly organized, and highly motivated individual to support routine laboratory operations. Responsibilities include glassware washing and autoclaving, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and overall laboratory organization. The successful candidate will work closely under the supervision of the Lab Manager and senior laboratory personnel. The Lab Aide will play an important role in supporting the development of a next-generation DNA sequencing platform designed specifically for clinical medicine. Current high-throughput sequencing technologies lack the optimal combination of accuracy, speed, and affordability required for widespread clinical utility. In collaboration with leading academic and industry scientists across the country, Digital Biotechnologies is developing the first solid-state sequencing platform with the performance characteristics necessary to enable broad clinical adoption. This position will contribute to research and development efforts by supporting and coordinating laboratory activities that leverage Digital Biotechnologies' proprietary technologies and intellectual property. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge advances in fundamental science, healthcare innovation, and biotechnology product development. Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions Maintain laboratory supply levels; coordinate replenishment and reorder supplies as needed Create and maintain an organized inventory of laboratory reagents Back up data generated from laboratory equipment to local servers Perform regular maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, including the Qubit fluorimeter and easiGlow glow discharger, according to manufacturer specifications Prepare buffers and other reagents, including stock solutions Support cleaning and organizing laboratory areas Develop organizational and tracking procedures as needed Test laboratory safety systems including eyewash, safety shower, and fume hood Maintain an inventory of all laboratory chemicals and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) Keep logs of accumulated chemical waste and request waste collection as needed Clean and sterilize laboratory glassware and plasticware using dishwasher and autoclave Facilitate lab coat laundering on a regular schedule Defrost freezers (-20 C and -80 C) as needed Transport packages and materials between buildings as needed Receive and place order requests in the purchasing system and log received items May assist with experiments and set-up Perform other related duties as assigned Position Requirements High school graduation or equivalent required with interest in the sciences. Some lab experience and scientific field of study with college-level chemistry and biology courses preferred. The ideal candidate will be well organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated. Working Conditions This position is 8-10 hours per week, as scheduled with supervisor. Job requires laboratory work in a BSL I lab. Work occasionally requires flexible and/or extended hours. Physical Requirements Staff may have to periodically spend extended periods of time standing/sitting within the lab while executing repetitive work. Staff may need to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. Staff may be required to walk several blocks between buildings while carrying packages.
