Job DescriptionPosition / Authority SummaryThe Lab Group Leader receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to, the Laboratory Supervisor or appointed designate for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities and has the authority to take action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position and to identify the occurrence of departures from the quality system or from the procedures for performing tests and/or calibrations, so long as such action does not deviate from established company guidelines, is consistent with sound technical and business judgment, and follows the practices of the laboratory.

requirements and relevant government regulatoryComplete laboratory testing on all incoming samples in an accurate, efficient and timely manner; ensure sample turnaround time goals are met or exceededWork with Lab Supervisor to ensure that prep or pathogen lab technicians are completing tasks correctly and in a timely mannerWork on making scheduling adjustments as needed to cover planned and unplanned absencesHave input on hiring of new prep lab techniciansWork with Training Manager to ensure all prep lab technicians are properly trained and performing tasks in which technicians are trained along with supporting documentationEnsure daily task lists are completed and turned into supervisors for reviewAssist with inventory management of the prep lab suppliesEnsure technicians are stocking lab at intervals that least disrupt operationsAdhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations relative to assigned analytical work; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environmentIdentify process difficulties and report these together with proposed solutions to supervisorMaintain cooperative working relationships with all company employees. Communicate professionally, timely, and clearly to co‑workers.
