Summary Conduct routine and complex laboratory tests, interpretation of test results, instrument operation, in addition to supporting clients as they access laboratory services. Oversees laboratory practices for given lab section such as, procedure documentation, quality assurance, quality control monitoring, instrument maintenance, staff training, and preparing for various certification, licensure, and accreditation processes.
Position Reports To :
Laboratory Manager Essential Functions Proficient in all aspects of the MLT I role. Perform moderate and high complexity testing according to published procedures and turnaround times. Validation of test results to include recognizing questionable results with investigation to determine root cause. Once root cause is determined appropriate action is taken prior to release of results to customer. Communicate written and verbal information to customers regarding appropriate specimen collection, transport, and test methodology. Ability to interpret test results and address client issues in an effective and courteous manner. Interpret, initiate, and comply with
CLIA/CAP/DOH/DNV
regulatory guidelines for laboratory testing. Ability to utilize critical thinking for problem solving. Ability to multitask effectively and accurately in a stressful environment. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification. Other duties as assigned. Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
Qualifications Required:
Certification of MLT (ASCP), or equivalent within 6 months of hire. Trained and competent in high complexity testing within 6 months of being hired.
Desired:
Two years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Physical/Sensory Demands O = Occasional, represents 1 to 25% or up to 30 minutes in a 2 hour workday. F = Frequent, represents 26 to 50% or up to 1 hour of a 2 hour workday. C = Continuous, represents 51% to 100% or up to 2 hours of a 2 hour workday.
