Job Description

Step into a rewarding and dynamic contract opportunity supporting student health and wellness within a school environment in the Birmingham area. This full-time, school-based position is perfect for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with previous experience in educational settings and a passion for delivering care to children and adolescents. This floating role offers the chance to collaborate with a variety of schools as needs arise, while maintaining a designated home base. Your ability to quickly adapt and build rapport with both students and staff will make a significant impact on the school community.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active, unrestricted LPN license in Alabama Graduate of a nursing program approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing (associate degree or higher) Current CPR certification Minimum of one year of direct school nursing experience (required) Familiarity with pediatric care, emergency response, and individual health plans
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing assessments, care, and health education for students across multiple campuses, as assigned Monitor chronic and acute health conditions, administer medications, and respond promptly to emergencies Collaborate closely with school staff, students, and families to support individualized health plans (IHPs/IEPs) Maintain accurate health records in accordance with school policies and state regulations Support safe and inclusive school environments through participation in health-related initiatives This is an onsite contract position, scheduled for 35 hours per week from now through May 2027, offering stability and the opportunity to build lasting relationships in the school community.
