Summary:
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to an assigned group of patients in accordance with prescribed hospital policy under the direction of the R.N.Other information:
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with parents and families; must demonstrate knowledge of medical equipment required in specific units; must have ability to work with patient charts, nursing care plans and computers. Education Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Experience 2 years experience preferred; experience in pediatrics preferred. Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries BCLS certified. Current Alabama LPN Licensure required. Credentials withEquivalent Qualifications:

2 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Nursing General The Acute Care Unit (ACU) is a 50-bed medical surgical unit that provides care for patients of various ages and diagnoses. Most ACU patients are admitted under the care of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) physicians. Common diagnoses include asthma exacerbation, bronchiolitis/RSV, pneumonia, cellulitis/abscess, fever in neonates, dehydration, gastroenteritis, and post-operative care for tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy or bilateral myringotomy tube placement. The average length of stay for our patients is approximately two days. Nurses on ACU have the opportunity to develop and refine a wide range of clinical skills, including IV placement, NG tube insertion, CVL care, gastrostomy tube care, and medication administration.
