POSITION SUMMARY A
student practical nurse apprentice assists the licensed practical nurse or registered nurse in the practice of professional nursing by providing direct patient care to promote patient comfort and facilitate the performance of diagnostic and treatment procedures as outlined the patient's plan of care. Works under the direct supervision of the primary LPN or RN. Maintains patient confidentiality. Works within the scope of practice and educational preparation. Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Current program enrollment in an Alabama Board of Nursing approved nursing educational program that has a nurse apprentice partnership with East Alabama Health. Completion of foundational clinical nursing semester. Has obtained approval and basic competency validation of Board approved nursing skills from the nursing educational program. Minimum Experience N/A Required Registration/License/Certification BLS within 30 days of hire/transfer Student Nurse Apprentice Permit (provided by ABN) w/in 30 days of hire/transfer Preferred Education N/A Preferred Experience Experience working in a hospital setting Preferred Registration/License/Certification Certified Patient Care Tech Certified EKG Tech Other Requirements N/A
