UMC Pediatrics Normal Work Schedule:
Monday•Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evening hours required
Job Summary:
The LPN facilitates quality patient care within the scope of licensure.
Additional Department Summary:
Partners with other clinical staff and providers to ensure medical students, residents and other learners academic and clinical experience prepares them to succeed in their post education endeavors. Supports the enterprise services division of the college, including Health Informatics, Medical Billing, Medical Records and others to ensure patient billing and documentation are complete and accurate and follow all HIPPA and other regulatory requirements. This position will be assigned to the University Medical Center Pediatrics Clinic.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Alabama in good standing.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a current CPR certification and have used an electronic health record system in a previous learning or employed role. Must be able to work flexible hours, to include weekday evening hours. Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner or other qualified medical professional. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Excellent communication, public relations and customer service and telephone etiquette skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment. Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions. Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient centered high quality customer friendly service. Understanding of the need for strict confidentially of protected health information and the requirement to follow HIPAA regulations at all times. Punctual and reliable.
