Job Description

O2 Employment Services is working with a reputable oncology treatment center to find their next Licensed Vocational Nurse. This position is based in Redding, CA, with occasional travel to Chico. The ideal candidate is an experienced LVN with strong clinical assessment, patient triage, IV therapy, care coordination, and patient education skills. This role is best suited for someone with prior outpatient or specialty clinic experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced oncology environment. Licensed Vocational Nurse Compensation & Benefits $35-$38 per hour, depending on experience Full-time, Monday-Friday schedule, 8:00AM to 5:00PM Health, dental, and vision insurance Licensed Vocational Nurse Qualifications Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse license in good standing Current California IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification Current BLS/CPR certification Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nursing program Prior experience with patient triage, clinical assessments, and care coordination Proficiency with IV insertion, monitoring, maintenance, and discontinuation Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong patient education skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment Proficiency with electronic medical records and general computer systems Oncology, radiation oncology, infusion therapy, or specialty clinic experience preferred At least two years of outpatient clinical nursing experience preferred This position is not intended for new graduate nurses or candidates whose primary experience has been in skilled nursing facilities Licensed Vocational Nurse Responsibilities Serve as the primary nursing resource for patients receiving radiation therapy Conduct weekly nursing assessments and participate in provider treatment visits Evaluate treatment tolerance, symptoms, nutrition, hydration, pain, and overall clinical condition Triage patient concerns by phone and in person Escalate changes in condition or urgent concerns to providers Administer medications and treatments within LVN scope of practice Perform IV insertion, monitoring, maintenance, and discontinuation Assist providers with clinical procedures using sterile technique Obtain vital signs and document assessments accurately in the electronic medical record Educate patients and caregivers about radiation treatment, side effects, skin care, medications, nutrition, hydration, follow-up care, and urgent symptoms Coordinate laboratory testing, imaging, referrals, and specialty consultations Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, radiation therapists, medical assistants, dosimetry, physics, medical oncology, and outside healthcare providers Maintain exam rooms, clinical supplies, medication inventory, and infection prevention standards Follow HIPAA, OSHA, CMS, state regulations, and organizational policies Participate in quality improvement projects and departmental initiatives Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee.
