Job Description

American Medical Group is a multi specialty medical group serving the Florida Panhandle with locations stretching from Pensacola to Panama City. We're seeking a detail driven Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our clinical documentation review team that will be based in our Destin location working alongside our Rheumatology department. In this role, you'll be working closely with providers, and the Insurance verification team that specializes in the approval process of specialty medications, ensuring that clinical records meet medical payer policies, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. Your work directly supports accurate reimbursement, reduces denials, and strengthens our overall compliance posture. Experience in Rheumatology is a huge plus but not required.
Key responsibilities include:
Review clinical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with payer specific medical policies, coverage criteria, and billing guidelines. Communicating with providers regarding documentation needs, including encounter notes, required labs, and supporting clinical information Identify documentation gaps, inconsistencies, or risks that may impact reimbursement or compliance. Collaborating with providers and the specialty medication billing team to reduce delays and streamline approvals The primary goal of this position is to expedite the specialty medication approval process and improve coordination between clinical and billing teams. Qualifications Active, unrestricted LPN license in FL or Compact Clinical experience in acute care, outpatient, home health, or similar setting preferred Experience with payer policies, utilization review, prior authorization, or clinical documentation improvement preferred Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical workflows, and charting practices Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and communication skills Comfortable working with EMRs (ECW) and documentation review tools This position will be based in our new Destin Rheumatology office, as these providers prescribe the majority of our specialty medications.
