Job Description

Position Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care for all patients on the assigned unit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: May provide direction to the CNA's, MA's', PCT's working on the unit, Administers prescribed medications and provides medication and other educational groups Collect and analyze data regarding the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and anticipated discharge planning needs. Inform incoming shift of any changes or problems with patients to promote continuity of care. Demonstrate knowledge of isolation precautions and proper PPE for each Contact Airborne Droplet Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of proper cleansing of mobile equipment Ability to identify the definition, as well as demonstrate knowledge of signs and symptoms, the need for environment adjustment and how to plan and document appropriate care of patients with the following diagnoses: Dementia and Alzheimer's Anxiety Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder Bipolar disorder and mania Chemical dependencies Depression Eating disorder Mood/behavior disorder Psychosis Schizophrenia Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) Obsessive compulsive disorder
RESTRAINT/SECLUSION

MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
Medication training program
SUICIDE RISK ASSESSMENT
Demonstrates knowledge and ability to assist the RN by gathering pertinent data
PATIENT GROUP THERAPIES
Demonstrate knowledge and ability to supervise and conduct recreational group therapies Proper Documentation
NURSING PLAN OF CARE
Demonstrate knowledge of interventions selected for problems identified on the nursing plan of care Demonstrates the ability to carry out interventions specific to each identified patient problem Proper documentation
ELOPEMENT
Able to verbalize knowledge of prevention and proper procedure in the event of an elopement Able to recognize patients at increased risk for possible elopement Able to recognize breaches in security of the locked units Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Prefer one (1) year experience as a LPN; prefer six (6) months in psychiatric nursing. Knowledge of current nursing procedures/processes, medications and their correct administration. Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia. Current CPR Certification required.
