Job Description

SHIFT:

Responsibilities and Duties:
Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on the application of scientific principles, under the supervision of a registered nurse. Delegates appropriate tasks to other members of the nursing team consistent with their abilities, certifications and licensures. Documents and executes the physician's orders as per policy/ standards of the facility. Communicates changes in the patient and physician plan of care to other nursing staff. Prepares, administers and records medications in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a LPN. Responds and participates in emergency care as directed by the RN. Participates in the discharge planning, admission and ongoing assessment of the patient. Performs and completes data history for patients of a wide range of age groups served in a timely manner as defined in policy. Attends in-service education programs as assigned. Attends unit meetings monthly. Completes assigned education on time. Answers patient call lights, anticipates patient's needs, and makes rounds to assigned patients.
Qualifications:
Education:
Must maintain license by meeting the Kansas licensing board CEU requirements (30 CEU's every 2 years).
License:
LPN in the state of
Kansas Certifications:
CPR; IV certification from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience:
Previous clinical experience in area of assignment or related care.
Other:
Must be highly organized, must be able to delegate (and hold accountable) duties to the staff, and must be able to work in a team environment following total y quality management principles.
