Location:
Saint John Hospital - Leavenworth, KS The Behavioral Health Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct, compassionate care to patients with acute mental health needs in an inpatient setting. Partnering with Registered Nurses and the interdisciplinary team, the LPN supports patient safety and stabilization through ongoing monitoring, medication administration, and behavioral observation. This role requires sound clinical judgment, emotional resilience, and the ability to manage crises and de‑escalation effectively. The Behavioral Health LPN helps maintain a safe therapeutic environment, supports admissions and discharges, ensures accurate documentation, and delivers patient‑centered care. https://www.primehealthcare.com/careers/benefits/ Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to): Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute mental and behavioral health needs in an inpatient setting. Observe, monitor, and document patient behavior, mental status, and safety risks. Administer medications as ordered and monitor side effects. Assist with crisis intervention and de‑escalation to promote unit safety. Support admissions, discharges, and transfers, including patient education. Collaborate with RNs, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team. Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation per policy and regulations Qualifications Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers.
You must have:
Current and valid state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
