JOB TITLE
Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse Dermatology Clinic - Outpatient Clinic Department (Staff Nurse)

JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Responsible to: Outpatient Supervisor Responsible for: May supervise LPN's and Patient Care Technician's (PCT)
Interrelationships:
Works cooperatively with all hospital Departments and the Medical Staff.
JOB SUMMARY
Travels to and works scheduled hours of dermatology clinic at assigned locations, providing professional nursing care. Interviews patients prior to dermatology provider seeing them and assists dermatology provider as needed. Schedule appointments with specialists/other facilities and ancillary departments as needed. Handles phone calls and patient requests for dermatology clinic timely. When not seeing patients for direct care in clinic, may work from secure location at home.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Previous clinical experience preferred but not required
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Nursing program Req. Cert./ Current RN or LPN licensure in the state where employed,
CPR Registration:
certification.
JOB DUTIES
(This list may not include all of the duties assigned.) Assures compliance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Maintains confidentiality as defined by hospital policy. Works scheduled hours of dermatology clinic at assigned locations. Travels to dermatology clinic locations as needed. When not seeing patients for direct care in clinic, may work from secure location at home. Coordinates the dermatology providers schedule as needed. Assists providers with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. Assists in planning, organizing, delivering, and evaluating direct care to assigned patients. Obtains information from the patient specific to their medical history, current health concerns, current home medications, and document accurately. Telephone triages medical care as appropriate to the dermatology setting. Returns calls as well as handles incoming calls from patients, pharmacies, nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, home health agencies, etc. Assists the provider to contact patients with diagnostic results, instructs patient on the providers recommendations, and documents patient and medical team communications in the patient's medical record. Arranges for patients ordered diagnostics, therapeutic services, referrals to other providers and relate said information to the patient. Works with patients and families in providing explanations of diagnostic tests, etc. Communicates clearly and accurately with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers. Completes appropriate documentation in the admission and dismissal of patients. Assists with setting up procedure trays, preparing instruments, and other equipment. Administers patient medication within limits of licensure. Performs patient care duties as assigned to provide for patient needs. Monitors condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel. Recognizes impending emergencies and acts appropriately. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress. Maintains a safe, clean, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment. Assists other members of the nursing team and/or other disciplines. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, workshops, etc. Orients, instructs and trains assigned personnel. Cooperates with other nursing personnel to maintain good employee relations and meet all departmental objectives. Attends meetings as required.
