Job Description

Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the life of a young adult while applying your expertise as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in a rewarding school-based environment. This contract opportunity offers an engaging assignment providing dedicated 1:1 care to an 18-year-old male student with complex medical needs as he attends his out-of-district school program. You'll coordinate morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off, delivering compassionate support throughout transportation and the school day. The district anticipates this role will extend through the remainder of the 2025/2026 school year, summer, and into the next academic year, ensuring meaningful continuity of care.
What You'll Bring:
Current and active Massachusetts LPN or RN license Clinical experience supporting individuals with complex diagnoses such as periventricular leukomalacia, spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairment, eosinophilic esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease Prior experience in school or pediatric settings strongly preferred Skills in safe lifting, transfer assistance, and attentive monitoring Dedication to supporting student safety, comfort, and dignity
What You'll Do:
Provide 1:1 nursing support for a student, including riding the van to and from his educational program Manage healthcare needs throughout the day—monitoring, medication administration, and health-related tasks in coordination with the educational team Serve as an advocate and trusted adult for the student, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment Communicate regularly with families, educators, and other professionals Maintain thorough and timely health documentation
Assignment Highlights:
Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours/week
Summer:
July 6-August 7, 8:30am-2:00pm (full day: 8:00am-2:30pm) Academic year resumes August 31, 8:00am-2:50pm (full day: 7:30am-3:20pm) Continued assignment possible into 2026/2027 Make a profound impact while building lasting relationships.
