Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an RN/LPN Trach and Vent Specialist, where your expertise will make a meaningful difference in patient care. This role is dedicated to providing specialized nursing support for individuals requiring tracheostomy and ventilator management, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care. Duties Monitor and manage patients with tracheostomies and ventilators, ensuring optimal airway patency and function. Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, respiratory status, and overall health evaluations. Administer medications, including sedation and pain management, following strict aseptic techniques and medical protocols. Maintain and troubleshoot ventilator equipment, ensuring proper functioning and safety standards are met. Educate patients and their families on tracheostomy care, ventilator use, infection prevention, and emergency procedures. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans aligned with patients' needs. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, adhering to HIPAA regulations. Experience Proven experience working with ventilator-dependent patients in acute care settings such as ICU or emergency medicine. Strong background in critical care nursing, including familiarity with airway management and respiratory therapy techniques. Knowledge of advanced medical procedures such as tracheostomy care, suctioning, and ventilator troubleshooting. Experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and patient tracking. Prior work in long-term care facilities, hospitals, or hospice settings is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to perform complex assessments involving physiology knowledge and diagnostic evaluation. Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and relevant specialty training preferred.
