Must hold an active Maine L.P.N or RN License Basic Life Support is required, or within 3 months of hire Other Skills Required Ability to identify verbally and in writing resident's/patient's physical and emotional needs as well as psychosocial needs Demonstrates accountability and coordination of care by: Providing skilled and safe nursing care to assigned residents/patients Performs procedures skillfully, e.g. tube feedings, dressing changes, urinary catheterization Assists physicians with examinations/treatments Recognizes and refers complex problems to Supervisor or Charge Nurse responsible for resident/patient care Participates in resident/patient care conferences Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of normal limits of vital signs and commonly used lab tests by reporting abnormal findings and reports them to the Supervisor or Charge Nurse Demonstrates an understanding of the medical plan of care and ensures that physician orders are implemented properly and accurately Documents resident/patient data and actions appropriate to resident/patients' plan of care Documents interventions accurately, clearly and concisely Acts as an advocate for providing safe delivery of patient/resident care Demonstrates knowledge of dosage, route, action, side effects, and contraindications of medications Utilizes resources as necessary Able to set up and operate equipment on unit Follows procedures for Universal Precautions and seeks assistance as needed Maintains a safe, clean environment for residents/patients and their family Accepts and uses instruction and guidance from Supervisor or Charge Nurse and seeks feedback on own performance to grow and improve Has a passion for working with long term care residents and skilled patients Covenant Health Mission Statement We are a Catholic health ministry, providing healing and care for the whole person, in service to all in our communities.
