We are seeking a licensed practical nurse for a 7-week, contract (non-travel) assignment in Scarborough, ME.
Start date:
ASAP.
Schedule:
Night shift (approx. 6:45 PM-7:15 AM).
Rate:
$1,300 per 36 hours.
Minimum qualifications:
Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license BLS certification Key responsibilities: Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician direction, including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, and vital sign monitoring. Conduct focused patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans. Administer and monitor prescribed medications and treatments, ensuring accurate dosing and adherence to protocols.
Manage wounds and catheters:
assess, cleanse, dress, and monitor for infection or complications. Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing and document results appropriately. Maintain accurate, timely patient records documenting condition changes, treatments, and medication administration. Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive measures. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team (RNs, physicians, therapists, support staff) to coordinate care. Support patient comfort and safety through positioning, mobility assistance, and pain management. Respond to emergencies per facility protocols and provide basic life support as needed. Follow infection control practices and safe handling, storage, and disposal of medications and supplies. Advocate for patients' rights and needs and participate in ongoing professional development and training. Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
