Job Description

About Us Barclay Surgery Center is a two-operating-room, AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center specializing in interventional pain and spine procedures. We're a small, close-knit team where you'll know every patient and every physician by name — and where your clinical judgment matters from day one. About the Role We're looking for an LPN to own our Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) process from scheduling through day-of-procedure admission. You'll be the clinical voice patients hear before they ever walk through our doors — reviewing health histories, reconciling medications, and flagging anything that needs a physician or anesthesia provider's attention prior to surgery. This is a high-autonomy role for a nurse who's detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and confident having clinical conversations with patients and physician offices alike. What You'll Do Call scheduled patients to complete pre-admission health history, medication, and allergy screening Reconcile current medications, including anticoagulants, GLP-1 agonists, and other medications that require hold instructions before a procedure Review patient comorbidities and identify risk factors that may affect surgical or anesthesia clearance Confirm required labs and diagnostic testing are complete and available before the date of service Flag abnormal findings or unresolved clearance issues to the physician, anesthesia provider, or Director of Nursing Walk patients through pre-op and NPO instructions and answer their questions Coordinate with physician offices and our scheduling team to track down outside records and clearances Keep accurate, timely documentation in the patient's paper chart What We're Looking For Current, active LPN license in the State of Michigan Current BLS certification Experience in pre-admission testing, pre-op/peri-op nursing, or ambulatory surgery preferred Comfort with medication reconciliation and reviewing patient risk factors Strong phone and interpersonal communication skills — you'll be a patient's first clinical contact Highly organized and able to manage a full daily patient list independently Comfortable maintaining thorough, accurate paper chart documentation Familiarity with SIS a plus, but not required Why Barclay Part-time, 24 hours/week — flexible scheduling within our Monday-Friday clinic hours — no nights, weekends, call, or holidays Small-team environment where you work directly with physicians and leadership Meaningful, autonomous clinical role rather than task-based nursing $25-$29/hour, based on experience
Pay:
$25.00 - $29.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 per week
