Job Summary:
The School Nurse supports student health, wellness, and academic success by providing comprehensive nursing services within the educational setting. The School Nurse promotes a safe and healthy school environment through assessment, care coordination, health planning, health education, disease prevention, compliance with state and federal regulations, and collaboration with students, families, healthcare providers, and school personnel. The School Nurse's role enhances the educational process by addressing or eliminating health-related obstacles to learning for students.
Essential Functions:
Attend to the daily needs of students in the health office, including administering medication, providing first aid, and addressing student illnesses and injuries Perform comprehensive health assessments and screenings for special education evaluations Formulate, execute, and oversee Individual Health Plans (IHPs) and 504 Plans Collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, educational institutions, and families to facilitate the academic access of students with health conditions Collaborate with faculty and staff in delivering healthcare services to all students Maintain precise documentation and updates of student health records Ensure confidentiality by adhering to the Federal regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Coordination of school wide screenings including but not limited to: dental, vision, and hearing assessments Completion of the Annual Immunization Status Report (AISR) as required by MDE Support in the development of health policies and school-wide procedures Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations for nursing practices
Qualifications:
Current Minnesota PELSB license in appropriate area preferred and/or required:
Licensed School Nurse Minimum Qualifications:
Current Minnesota School Nurse License with PELSB Bachelor Degree in Nursing Current Minnesota License as a
Registered Nurse Public Health Nurse Certified Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical patient care experience Experience managing chronic health conditions Proficient in utilizing electronic health records Enjoys working in an environment that fosters collaboration and teamwork Ability to engage effectively and positively with employees at all organizational levels and various partners Experience working with children of diverse ages, cultures, and backgrounds Knowledge of school health services, public health principles, special education processes, and student health laws and regulations. Strong communication, organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Pay:
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour
