- Jeanne Jugan Center Kansas City About the Position Little Sisters of the Poor is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dependable Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our nursing team.
The Staff Nurse provides and supervises medical and personal care for residents, with a focus on helping each resident achieve and maintain the highest practicable level of physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Our Staff Nurses are committed to person-centered care, dignity, respect, and quality of life for the elderly residents we serve. Key Responsibilities Assess and monitor residents and promptly report changes in condition or status. Administer and accurately document medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility policies. Participate in comprehensive resident assessments and update plans of care. Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, nursing staff, and supervisors. Serve as Charge Nurse and ensure nursing functions on the assigned unit(s) are completed safely and efficiently. Supervise Nursing Assistants and follow up on resident care and assignments. Assist with orientation and training of Nursing Assistants and other nursing staff as needed. Respond promptly and calmly to resident and employee emergencies. Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately and timely. Prepare for and assist with physician visits. Ensure appropriate follow-up of rehabilitation and restorative services. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including admissions, readmissions, discharges, changes in condition, and incident reports. Monitor medical supplies and equipment for proper use, safety, and cost effectiveness. Protect resident privacy and maintain confidentiality of resident, employee, and organizational information. Promote and protect resident rights. Follow all nursing and administrative policies, including HIPAA, infection prevention, safety/OSHA, and quality assurance requirements. Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other departments. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license / Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment. Current CPR/BLS certification for Healthcare Providers and ability to maintain certification. Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred; experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, or psychiatric nursing is desirable. Strong assessment skills and working knowledge of the nursing process. Basic knowledge of regulations and guidelines governing long-term care facilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Computer proficiency, including electronic medical records. Strong leadership, supervisory, organizational, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team. Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
