Job Description

The Wound Care Nurse plays a critical role in the healthcare team, specializing in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with acute and chronic wounds. This position requires a compassionate and skilled nurse who can provide high-quality care while educating patients and their families about wound healing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nursing with experience in various healthcare settings, including critical care and urgent care.

Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices. Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patients for any adverse reactions. Perform wound care procedures, including dressing changes, debridement, and application of topical treatments. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and ensure comprehensive care. Educate patients and families on wound care techniques, health coaching, and preventive measures. Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatments administered, and outcomes achieved. Stay updated on the latest advancements in wound care management and medical terminology. Coordinate facility-wide Infection Prevention Control Program. Ensure compliance with Federal and state regulations, Administration (OSHA), Association for Professionals in Infection Control & Epidemiology (APIC), Association Occupational Health Professionals (AHOP), and other regulatory agencies. Prioritize Infection Prevention goals. Collaborate with Department managers and medical directors in implementing aspects of the Infection Prevention Program when requested or as needed. Skills Proficient in-patient assessment techniques to identify wound types and severity. Strong knowledge of medical imaging processes relevant to wound evaluation. Familiarity with urgent care protocols for treating acute wounds. Ability to administer medications safely and effectively within an ambulatory surgery center setting. Understanding of critical care principles as they relate to complex wound cases. Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and health coaching. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently while ensuring high-quality patient care. Qualifications RN/LPN license required. Current, unencumbered nursing license in the practicing state. Current BLS/CPR certification. Experience in nursing management and infection prevention control. Must have Certification in Infection Prevention and Control. This position is essential for improving patient quality of life through effective wound management strategies.
