Job Description

Job Summary:
The LPN performs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and is delegated an assignment by him/her to achieve quality patient care. The LPN shall assist the RN in the implementation of the nursing process by providing direct patient care as evidenced, but not limited to, patient care documentation, direct observation, and patient evaluations. The LPN is responsible and accountable to the Patient Care Coordinator. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to read data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
Performance Expectations:
Possesses and utilizes technical aptitude for the proper use and operation of equipment assigned including but not limited to IV infusion pumps and defibrillator. Observes the patient's condition and gathers pertinent data and reports the information to the RN on duty. Accurately records information gathered into the patient's electronic medical record. Follows nursing policy and procedures to provide excellent care of patient Completes intravenous starts and antibiotic administration as allowed by licensure and certification. Maintains confidentiality of patient and peers. Communicates and interacts with patients/families and visitors using the We C.A.R.E philosophy. Moves equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or the patient. Applies telemetry monitor correctly, retrieves equipment at discontinuation, cleans equipment and returns equipment to appropriate place. Effectively communicates verbally and /or with writing skills. Maintains the sterile field as needed during procedures performance task. Completes barcode scanning and medication administration accurately and reports any issues with technology or labels to supervisor. Verifies provider generated orders and performs said orders with accuracy. Enters orders with accuracy in Electronic Health Record. Monitors supply levels and order supplies accordingly. With accuracy collects, labels, and delivers specimens to Lab in a timely manner. Prioritize and multitask patient care delivery for assigned workload. Reports to work duty during Emergency Operation Event once contacted Completes walking rounds and report including the patient and family in shift change report Attends all mandatory staff training and staff meetings.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills Graduate of a recognized non-online LPN program required. Certification/Licensure-DUE
