Education and Formal Training :

High school graduate or equivalent required Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure

Unit Description:

5 South is a 36 Bed Oncology/Palliative Care Medical-Surgical Unit consisting of Adult Oncology/Palliative Care and Geriatric patient unit, working on a track schedule. Patient Ratio 1:5. Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists. New Graduate Nurses are accepted and welcome!

Work Experience:

1-2 years of related clinical experience preferred Oncology/End of Life Palliative Care Wound care Medical-Surgical Telemetry required Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills. Verbal and written skills required. Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills. Is knowledgeable of the age specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served.

Physical Requirements :

Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs Visual acuity for observation of patients Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material #
