Job Description
SUMMARY The Licensed Practical Nurse in the Phelps Medical Group Clinic setting manages, organizes and administers nursing care for patients of all ages under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.
Presents a professional, pleasant and positive image.
Consistently demonstrates excellent telephone skills and etiquette.
Interviews patient or patient representative to obtain and record patient's personal and financial information and obtain signatures on all appropriate forms.
Verifies insurance information.
Assists in the scheduling of patient exams, studies and coordinate the times to best meet the needs of the patient and the ordering physician.
Assesses data regarding the patient's physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions based on the patient's age and development. Reports and documents all observed symptoms, reactions, and changes in the patient's condition to the Physician and/or Registered Nurse. Assists in the nursing process to direct and deliver patient care. Administers medications using the "Five Rights of Medication Administration".Provides assistance to the Operating Practitioner Participates in stocking and clinic procedure set-up.
Prepares and cleans room, instruments and supplies as scheduled.
Creates and maintains a comfortable and safe environment for patients, visitors and other employees.
Organizes and prioritizes daily assignments to provide optimal patient care and increase productivity.
Conforms and complies to the policies and procedures of Phelps Memorial Health Center.
Adheres to Infection Control Policies and Procedures and the use of Universal Precautions.
Possesses knowledge of PMHC's Safety policies, procedures and protocols i.e. fire, safety, disaster and tornado.
Independently maintains and updates skills as BLS certification, required inservices and continuing education for professional improvement.
Promotes effective interdepartmental and intradepartmental communications.
Presents a professional, pleasant and positive image.
Maintains patient and employee confidentiality at all times.
