Job Description

LPN/Medical Assistant Family Practice Location:
Tecumseh Family Health, Tecumseh, NE Department:
Nursing Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm or until all patient care has been completed. Additional hours will be from 8am to 12pm on a Saturday rotation. This position usually requires an afternoon or a whole day off each week.
Position Summary:
Performs selected nursing duties and assists physicians as part of the clinical care team. Maintains strict patient confidentiality and treats physicians, patients and visitors with dignity and respect.
DutiesResponsibilities:
Implements, evaluates and manages the care and education of patients in the medical office. Reviews and updates patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence and determines needed services per practice protocol. Prepares patients for examinations, procedures and treatments by escorting them from the waiting area to an exam room. This includes but is not limited to taking vital signs, prepping for surgical procedures and obtaining laboratory tests. Gives injections, draws blood and performs laboratory test when necessary. Maintains medication records and administers medication upon physician order. Vaccines for children ordering and reporting. Takes EKGs. Triages and responds to patient communications within practice policy. Schedules tests and treatments, preauthorizing patients when necessary. Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms. Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment. Completes clinic transcription in a timely manner. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing results timely. Understands and demonstrates compliance with HIPPA regulations and will comply with all JCH policies and procedures. All other duties as deemed necessary by the medical director and clinic manager. Patients are always our first priority.
QualificationsSkills:
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program. LPN license in the state of Nebraska. Minimum of one year previous clinic experience required. Current CPR certification.
