Requirements:
Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license BLS certification Core responsibilities: Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital signs, and basic nursing procedures. Perform patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans. Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and per protocol.
Manage wounds and incisions:
evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications. Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition. Maintain accurate patient records, including treatments and medication administration. Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and self-care instructions. Administer and monitor IV medications/fluids; manage IV lines.
Provide catheter care:
insertion, maintenance, and monitoring for complications. Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing. Collaborate with the healthcare team (RNs, physicians, therapists, support staff) to coordinate care. Assist with patient comfort and safety: positioning, mobility assistance, and pain management. Respond to medical emergencies according to protocol and provide basic life support as needed. Follow infection control practices, including hand hygiene and proper use of PPE. Handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies safely and in compliance with regulations. Support preventive care measures (vaccinations, screenings) and participate in health assessments. Advocate for patient needs and rights within the care team. Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned. Maintain professional competency through required continuing education and training. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
